Post Is there an ATV legal trail along Hwy 169 north of Elk River
I called the Elk River police department and asked if there were any trails I could ride my atv on and the lady said that you can ride in the ditch north of Elk River along Hwy 169. I live in Coon Rapids and would like somewhere closer to ride other than driving an hour north. Anyone know if this is true? Anyone know nearest riding area to coon rapids? Thanks for your reply's.

Closest is Redtop, sorry to say, but there is no space for a riding area further south that I know of. There is a track outside of ER, north on 169, but it looks like mostly kids on dirt bikes and snowmobiles in the winter. I think you pay to get in.

The ditches are ok for a quick ride, but the locals may get upset if it is too often. Along HWY 47 there is a trail in the ditch, but not sure if that is legal either. I usually try to plan day or weekend trips up north farther. Winter is the best time and I WILL be getting out more this year. I'll post here when I plan anything if you want to come along.

Hey thanks for the reply, anyone know of any places to ride north of the twin cities for a short ride after work in the evenings? Are you able to ride the ditch along hwy 65 from Ham Lake up to Isanti and near cambridge?
